Liverpool is reportedly prepared to shatter the British transfer record in their pursuit of a replacement for Mohamed Salah
According to Spanish outlet Sport, Liverpool is eyeing Real Madrid’s Vinicius Jr. as a potential successor to Salah should the Egyptian forward depart the club.
It’s suggested that Liverpool, along with Chelsea and Paris Saint-Germain, are ready to table a staggering £171 million offer to acquire the services of the Brazilian winger from Real Madrid.
However, contrary to these speculations, it’s mentioned in the report that Real Madrid has no intentions of parting ways with Vinicius Jr. Instead, they are keen on extending his contract for an additional five years.
Vinicius Jr. has showcased impressive form this season, amassing 18 goals and 8 assists in 28 appearances for Real Madrid. His overall tally for the Spanish giants stands at 77 goals and 72 assists across 253 appearances, as per Transfermarkt data.
There’s a possibility that Liverpool might consider selling Salah this summer, especially after reports emerged of substantial bids from Saudi clubs last year, with Al Ittihad allegedly offering £150 million, a bid that Liverpool purportedly turned down on the deadline day.
With Salah’s contract set to expire in 2025 and Jurgen Klopp’s departure at the end of the season, there’s growing speculation surrounding Salah’s future at Liverpool. It’s suggested that if contract negotiations fail to reach a resolution in the upcoming summer window, Liverpool might opt to cash in on Salah rather than risk losing him on a free transfer the following year.
Despite the uncertainties surrounding Salah’s future, the Egyptian forward continues to shine on the field, boasting an impressive record of 22 goals and 13 assists in 34 appearances across all competitions this season. Since joining Liverpool, Salah has consistently delivered remarkable performances, tallying an outstanding total of 208 goals and 89 assists in 339 games.
