Police Confirmed Killing Of Officer At Checkpoint In Ebonyi State Nigeria
• The Ebonyi State Police Command yesterday confirmed the killing of a police officer by yet to be identified gunmen. This was contained in a press statement by the state Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) Joshua Ukandu.
• According to him, “today 11/04/2024 at about 7:15am, hoodlums in an ash coloured Sienna vehicle attacked the Police check point at Isheke junction in Ebonyi Local Government Areas of the state.
• “The hoodlums shot indiscriminately at the officers, who engaged them fiercely and were able to repel them” He added, “one of the officers was fatally wounded and a patrol vehicle set ablaze” “The Commissioner of Police immediately deployed police operatives to the scene, they are on the trail of the hoodlums” Meanwhile, the release added that calm and normalcy has been restored to the area.
• “The Commissioner of Police is using this medium to call on well-meaning individuals in the state to avail the command with useful information that will aid in apprehending the fleeing hoodlums.”
